Police Arrest UNIJOS Student Who Killed, Buries Friend

 Tragedy has rocked the University of Jos community following the arrest of a 23-year-old student, identified as David Nanpon Timmap, for allegedly murdering and burying his colleague, Peter Mata Mafurai, aged 22, in his apartment at Rusau village, Jos North Local Government Area.

According to reports, the suspect, a 300-level student, allegedly attacked and hacked the victim to death before digging a shallow grave inside his room to conceal the crime.

The incident came to light after operatives of the Plateau State Police Command, Laranto Division, received a distress call around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Acting on the report, the Divisional Police Officer led a team to the scene, where the suspect was immediately apprehended.

Police later exhumed the remains of the deceased, which have since been deposited at the Bingham University Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Confirming the incident, the Plateau State Police Command said the suspect is in custody while investigations continue to determine the motive behind the gruesome act.

The shocking development has thrown the university community into mourning, with students and staff expressing disbelief over the tragedy.
