47th National Council On Agriculture: ARCN Chart Way Forward On Agricultural Based Technological Spread, Extension Services To Achieve Food Sustainability

‎The Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) has alongside other key stakeholders in the Agricultural sector attends the 47th national council on Agriculture and food security to achieve food sovereignty in Kaduna. 

The Executive Secretary, Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria, ARCN, Dr Abubakar Adamu Dabban in a key presentations during the Technical Session of the National Council on Agriculture (NCA), advocates for enhanced technology and innovation in the sector.

‎According to the Councils Public Relations Officer, Mrs Khadijat Ameen, the Executive Secretary was represented by Dr. Nuhu Yusuf, Director of Knowledge Management and Communication, at the technical session. The Council presented two crucial memoranda: the Establishment of a National Farm Knowledge and Innovation Support Centre (NFKISC).and the Information Memorandum on the 29 new crop varieties released in the year 2025 alone.

‎Dr. Nuhu informed the Council members that establishing NFKISC across Nigeria represents a systematic community approach to technological spread that can transform the Agricultural Innovation Ecosystem.

‎He stressed that the NFKISC would effectively bridge existing knowledge gaps, ensuring that valuable research findings reach farmers promptly. 

"This initiative is expected to generate essential backward linkages and build a resilient food system, aligning directly with the present administration's Renewed Hope Agenda to boost agriculture and ensure national food security," he said

Dr. Nuhu further highlighted ARCN’s commitment to strengthening agricultural innovation, improving extension services, empowering farmers, and supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government, under the purview of the honorable ministers of Agriculture and Food 

The 47th National Council on Agriculture and Food Security (NCAFS), tagged “Food Sovereignty and Food Security in an Era of Renewed Hope,” saw the unveiling of a series of reforms and financing initiatives aimed at fast-tracking Nigeria’s path to food sovereignty and agricultural transformation, including the capitalization of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA) with ₦1.5 trillion and a ₦250 billion credit window for small holder farmers.
