The Nigerian military says on 25 Oct 24, at about 0312hrs, a naval personnel, LS Akila A, deployed at FOB Dansadua for Operation FANSAN YAMMA , in questionable circumstances opened fire sporadically killing a fellow military colleague.
The Director Defence Media Operations, (DMO) Major-General Edward Buba in a message release made available to Teetvnews says Thereafter, he was arrested, disarmed, detained and investigation has since commenced into the case.
Gen Buba said, the case will be escalated to a standing court martial setup to address such misdemeanor among troops after Investigation.
The DMO Director however I formed that the administrative procedure for notifying the family of the deceased is ongoing. It is for this reason, his name is not yet released to the public. Nevertheless, the name will be released in due course.
Accordingly, he urge the media to exercise caution in reporting in order not to further demoralised the family of the deceased, please .
