With every promotion, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) grows stronger, smarter in strategy, more resilient in spirit, and more dedicated to service. These were the words of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, while congratulating Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) recently elevated to their next ranks with effect from 1 September 2025.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force in a press statement on 12 November 2025 says the promotion exercise, conducted in line with the Service’s annual cycle, reflects the NAF’s unwavering commitment to professionalism, morale building, and personnel development as critical enablers of operational excellence.
Air Marshal Aneke described the promotion as more than an administrative routine, but a defining moment that reinforces the Service’s foundation of merit, discipline, and devotion to duty.
“With every promotion, we build a smarter, more resilient, and more dedicated Air Force,” he declared, adding that each elevated airman and airwoman represents renewed strength and national confidence in the Force’s mission to protect and serve.
He emphasized that the 2025 NCO's promotion process was transparent and merit-driven, consistent with the standards of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. He assured that personnel who have completed the required technical or professional courses would be considered after subsequent mustering and upgrading exercises.
Air Marshal Aneke congratulated the newly promoted personnel, urging them to see their advancement as both recognition and responsibility. “Promotion is not just about rising in rank; it is about rising to greater expectations,” he said. “You have earned this through hard work and sacrifice; now is the time to give even more to your country and to the Service.”
Reaffirming his leadership philosophy anchored on motivation and mentorship, the CAS noted that morale remains a decisive factor in achieving operational success. He emphasized that a highly trained, well-equipped, and motivated workforce is central to the Nigerian Air Force’s mission readiness and overall combat effectiveness.
“Our personnel are our greatest asset,” he stated. “When they are motivated, our operations become sharper, our decisions smarter, and our impact greater.”
Air Marshal Aneke further underscored that a motivated and well-trained force is essential to sustaining the NAF’s operational edge in modern warfare and ensuring the protection of Nigerian citizens against emerging security threats. He added that when personnel are inspired and adequately equipped, their precision in battle improves, their resolve strengthens, and their contribution to national defence deepens.
The 2025 promotion aligns with the Service’s ongoing efforts to institutionalize professionalism through a deliberate balance of training, welfare, and career progression. It also underscores the NAF’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders who will sustain operational efficiency and strategic innovation.
As the new ranks take effect, the CAS reaffirmed that the NAF remains focused on building a force that embodies professionalism, patriotism, and purpose. “Let your new ranks reflect greater humility, responsibility, and dedication,” Air Marshal Aneke charged. “Together, we will continue to soar higher, for the flag, for the Force, and for the future of our nation.”
