WE HAVE COMPLETED 1,050 INVESTIGATION OF SUSPECTS CASES....COMMANDER, JOINTS INVESTIGATION CENTER, OPHK

As fight against insurgency records more successes, by the troops of operation Hadin Kai, operating in the North East, the Joint Investigation Centre (JIC), of the Operation, says delayed in the centre is one of the major challenges facing the centre.

Commander of the Centre, Brigadier General Yusuf Audu disclosed this while conducting defence correspondent round the facility during the Defence Media Operation tour to the theatre art of operation Hadin Kai on Wednesday 21, January, 2026

General Audu expressed hope that there would be improvements on the prosecution of suspects awaiting trials  that are kept in the centre*s facility.with the new Director of public prosecution, Federal Ministry of Justice.

General Audu in the brief stated that out of two thousand one hundred and seventy suspects presently in the centre, investigations has been completed on one thousand and fifty suspects cases.

However, two thousand, one hundred and two suspects are presently at the centre located in Giwa Barracks, Maiduguri BORNO state, with sixty eight suspects being female. The center also harbours thirty one children that can not be separated from their parents.

On collaboration, The commander JIC said the center enjoys collaboration from the international agencies

‎On civil-military cooperation and works closely with international organisations including the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), International Organization for Migration, and other development partners.

‎He revealed that UNODC constructed a modern evidence storage facility and donated computers, while also supporting capacity-building workshops on terrorism investigation.

‎IOM on their part established a well-equipped data centre for registration, screening and biometric documentation, while ICRC assists in detainee healthcare, including treatment of malnutrition and tuberculosis.

"JIC adopts a human-rights-based approach, supported by special investigation techniques and modern equipment, adding that detention of suspects is always backed by remand orders obtained from the Federal High Court."

He explained, that  "investigations, and cases are reviewed by a Complex Casework Group, which provides legal advice on whether suspects should be prosecuted, rehabilitated, reintegrated or referred for immigration-related actions."
