Former Jigawa State governor Alhaji Sule Lamido, has threatened to drag the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to court if he fails to get nomination form to contest the National Chairmanship of the party in the November 15 National Convention.
Lamido who was at the PDP National Secretariat on Monday to obtain the form, said he was told that no form was available at the secretariat.
PDP had zoned its National Chairmanship position to the North, which was later micro-zoned to the North West.
Stakeholders from the region who met in Abuja last Wednesday, adopted former Minister for Special Duties, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, as consensus candidate for the position.
This was however, countered by North West stakeholders, who said they were not consulted before the adoption.
Lamido who arrived the party's secretariat few minutes after 10 am, was received by the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu and the National Organising Secretary Capt. Umar Bature (retd).
He told journalists that the national officers told him they had no idea where the forms were sold.
"Both of them said they had no idea where the forms are, not even how they were printed or the kind of forms they are.
"I found it a little bit weird that the custodian of the system, who is the National Organising Secretary, is also being locked out because I’m coming in. So, they may not be able to go into the office," he stated.
He said he was told that the forms are with the chairmanship of the National Convention Organising Committee, Governor Umaru Fintiri.
Although Lamido claimed there is no division in the party, he said he would seek redress in court.
"The PDP should be able to organise its own house. The only way we can win is by having a party that is disciplined.
"If the party is not organised, if we don’t follow our own constitution and procedures, how do we win elections?" he asked.
He also said he is an optimist, adding, "We’ll never fight, no matter what, because we want to win the election."
The former governor warned that if the PDP does not put its house in order, it will lose to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
PDP would have begin screening of candidates on Tuesday, but was extended indefinitely. It had earlier extended the sale of nomination forms.
