In a bid to enhance operational efficiency and boost troops' welfare, the Theatre Commander Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, has commissioned the Sector 3 OPHK/Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) soldiers' transit camp at Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri on Thursday, 24 July 2025.
During the ceremony, General Abubakar highlighted that the project marked a significant milestone in the collective efforts to enhance operational efficiency, bolster troops' welfare, and sustain momentum in the fight against insurgency. This initiative, he noted, aligns with the command philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff.
Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Headquarters Theatre Command Operation HADIN KAI, on 24 July 2025, the Theatre Commander emphasised that the provision of decent, functional, and secure accommodation for troops would improve command and control, facilitate timely administration, and ease logistical challenges associated with troop movements.
According to him, the facility would also ensure a secure, dignified, and comfortable holding point for troops on administrative patrol and outpatient personnel.
General Abubakar commended the Sector Commander for conceptualising and executing the project, urging beneficiaries to utilise the facility properly and maintain the edifice. He expressed profound appreciation to troops in the field for their resilience in denying terrorists freedom of action, stating,
"You are the real heroes of our time. Together, we shall continue to consolidate our gains, dominate the battlespace, and secure a future where peace, development, and normalcy are fully restored in the North East."
The Theatre Commander urged troops to remain vigilant and prepare for tasks ahead.
Earlier, the Commander Sector 3 OPHK/MNJTF, Brigadier General Suleiman Tilawan, thanked the Theatre Commander for his leadership, guidance, and financial support for the actualisation of the project , wishing him greater success.
Projects commissioned include, a Warrant Officers and Sergeants' transit camp, named after Maj Gen AA Nani and a block of Corporals and below transit camp, named after Maj Gen SO Olabanji, among others.
The event featured a tour of the facility and a group photograph with senior military commanders, officers, and soldiers of OPHK, in attendance.
