In it's bid to enhance its conflict management capabilities, the Nigerian police Force has in partnership with the society for Peace Studies and Practice (PSPS) organized an executive Capacity Building Workshop for top leadership of the Nigerian Police Force in Abuja.
Speaking at the workshop, the Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun noted that conflicts no longer wait and that simple truth defines the urgency and importance of workshop.
"Security challenges no longer unfold at a measured pace; they emerge suddenly, evolve rapidly, and persist stubbornly. If we must win, our leadership must be faster, sharper, and more innovative than the threats we confront."
He commend the Society for Peace Studies and Practice for their foresight and commitment in organizing the engagement in partnership with the Nigeria Police Force.
" By bridging scholarship and policing practice, they have provided us with a platform not only to reflect but also to renew, and more importantly, to sharpen our leadership capacity for the complex challenges ahead."
He informed that the theme of the workshop Managing Fast-Paced Security Challenges in a Protracted Conflict Environment" - could not have been more apt as it speaks directly to the paradox of our times.
"conflicts that stretch across years, yet change form and intensity daily. We face adversaries who are not only persistent but adaptive. Criminal syndicates exploit technology to expand their reach. Terrorist networks rebrand and reorganize to avoid defeat. Local conflicts, once contained, now spill across borders, amplified by social media and transnational alliances. This complexity demands more from us than courage alone."
"It demands foresight, creativity, and the agility to lead in an environment of constant flux. Our leadership must combine patience with speed, endurance with imagination, and strategy with unshakable resolve. That is why this theme has been carefully chosen, to prepare you, as leaders, to anticipate, to adapt, and to act decisively in an environment where hesitation is costly and speed is survival.
"What we seek through this workshop is not just individual learning, but collective transformation. The Nigeria Police Force must grow into an institution that is agile in planning, bold in execution, and united in vision."
The President, SPSP, Nathaniel Msen Awuapila on his part stated that the workshop aims to embark on a transformative journey-one that seeks to reposition the NPF as a proactive, intelligence-driven institution, capable of fostering peace, justice, and national cohesion.
"This workshop transcends the bounds of conventional training; it represents a deliberate investment in the ethical, analytical, and visionary leadership required to navigate Nigeria's evolving security landscape.
"It reflects our shared commitment to institutional excellence, operational foresight, and principled governance. Through expert presentations, interactive sessions, case studies, and collaborative dialogue, we aim to equip our senior officers not only with tactical proficiency, but with the strategic insight necessary to lead with integrity and impact."
He informed that the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP) is honoured to contribute to this vital endeavour.

" I wish to take this moment to express our sincere gratitude to you and your management team for the confidence you have placed in SPSP. It is scarcely a year since we signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the NPF. Within this period, you mandated SPSP to train all cadres of the Force. Thus far, we have trained members of the intermediate cadre-specifically Chief Superintendents of Police-and today. we are privileged to engage with the top echelon of the Nigeria Police Force. Furthermore, during this period, approximately one hundred officers have joined SPSP and have been formally inducted as members.
"We deeply appreciate this demonstration of trust and confidence. In recognition of this, today's training is offered as a pro bono capacity-building programme. We trust that the distinguished participants present here will find it worthwhile, and we hope the management team will continue to support similar engagements as a means of strengthening the internal security architecture of our great nation."

He task participants to ensure that the workshop produces a shift in mindset, a recalibration of strategy, and a renewal of commitment.
