The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Tuesday received the Executive Secretary of the National Assembly Library Trust Fund, Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba, on a courtesy visit to the Ministry for collaboration to promote strategic communication on national information architecture and intellectual infrastructure
The visit according to the director Press and public relations, Ozoya Imohimi is emphasized the importance of knowledge management, research, and collaboration in advancing Nigeria’s internal security and legislative effectiveness.
In his remarks, Dr. Tunji-Ojo, a former member of the House of Representatives, welcomed his colleague and friend with whom he had shared legislative responsibilities in the National Assembly. The Minister emphasized the role of structured knowledge and legislative support in enhancing internal governance and institutional development.
“There is a need for a shared understanding of concepts like, international strategic planning in areas of national development,” the Minister said. “We must deepen our research, learn from our past mistakes, and strive not to repeat them. This is why collaboration with institutions like the National Assembly Library Trust Fund is key to shaping a more informed governance culture.”
He praised the Library Trust Fund for its dedication to deploying ICT-driven solutions in legislative documentation and support, stating that “there is so much we can do together to create a national megaphone that amplifies data-driven policy, research, and civic knowledge for democracy and national security.”
The Executive Secretary, of the National Assembly Library Trust Fund, Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba also expressed profound appreciation for the Minister's warm reception. He noted the strategic relevance of the Ministry of Interior in ensuring national stability and stressed the role of information systems and documentation in supporting both the legislature and ministries in Nigeria.
“With the support of visionary leaders like Dr. Tunji-Ojo, we can actualize our goal of establishing a world-class national library facility akin to the Library of Congress, a hub for policy research, legislative analysis, and institutional memory,” he said. “We look forward to partnering with the Ministry of Interior in areas that touch both the legislative and executive arms of government.”
The meeting ended on a note of optimism and shared commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s institutional frameworks through research, documentation, and digital integration.
