The Nigerian Army has on Sunday, October 20, debunked reports circulating on the social media and some online platforms that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, had died.
The Nigerian Army through its official X handle described the report as “fake” although no further explanation was given.
Meanwhile the Army spokesman, Maj-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, had in a statement on Saturday, October 19th, 2024 confirmed that the Army chief had proceeded on leave and medical checkup abroad.
Maj. Gen. Nwachukwu gave the brief while giving clarification on the controversy surrounding the promotions of some officers of the Nigerian Army.
