The Executive Secretary, Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria, Dr. Dabban has emphasize the need for international partnerships in advancing Nigeria’s agricultural sector through knowledge exchange, modern technologies, research collaboration and human-capacity development.
Dr. Dabban made the emphasis at the signing of a memorandum of Understanding and launch of the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) on Thursday, 27 August 2026, at the lekki Room, Robinson Blu Anchorage Hotel, Lagos.
According to his public Relatjjns Officer, Khadijat O. Ameen, Dr. Dabban noted that stronger collaboration between Nigerian and Thai institutions would create opportunities for researchers, farmers and agricultural stakeholders to benefit from innovative approaches and practical solutions to challenges affecting food production and agricultural development.
He reaffirmed ARCN’s commitment to supporting partnerships that promote agricultural research, innovation and technology transfer, while contributing to Nigeria’s food security agenda.
The provost and chief Executive Officer of the Federal Cooperative College, Oji River, Enugu State, Dr. Jude Ejikeme Obidiegwu while sharing some insights on the partnership within the context of sustainability and impact said the project aims to target the host communities, students. Farmers, cooperative societies ,private sector, innovators.
Dr Obidiegwu in his address tagged "Insights into the Thai- Nigeria collaborative Framework" equally highlighted the history and how the story started in respect to engagement and communication between both countries.
The signing ceremony and TICA launch therefore represent a significant milestone in deepening Nigeria–Thailand cooperation and building a more productive, resilient and technology-driven agricultural sector.
The engagement is also not only to strengthen cooperation between Nigeria and Thailand in the area of agricultural research, innovation but for technology transfer, capacity building, Agricultural Entrepreneurship and overall food security agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. GCFR.
