YOUTH DEVELOPMENT: CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF MAIDEN UNDER-15 BOYS FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TO KICK OFF IN PORT HARCOURT

The Defence headquarters says all is set for the maiden edition of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Under-15 Boys Football Championship is scheduled to hold in Port Harcourt, Rivers State from 13 - 20 December 2025. Expectedly, the event will feature selected Under - 15 Boys Teams drawn from surrounding communities and military barracks representing each state within the South South region, including Imo and Abia States.

Major General Samaila Uba, Director, Defence Information on 12 December 2025 disclosed that the youthful tournament is part of the CDS, General OO Oluyede's broader vision to promote capacity building, youth development and social cohesion, particularly amongst the vibrant youthful population across the South-South region, including Abia and Imo States.

During the tournament, various activities have been designed with the aim of nurturing a vibrant, healthy and socially well-adjusted youth population through productive sporting activities. The youths will also be engaged on the need to shun social vices and contribute meaningfully to nation building. 

The tournament will also serve as a platform to spot talents, while also instilling the values of teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship. Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their abilities, develop critical life skills, and build confidence for a brighter and more promising future.
