The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Olufemi Oluyede has assured the Director General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Professor Ayo Omotayo of improved collaboration between the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the foremost Policy Institution in Nigeria.
General Oluyede gave the assurance on Thursday,18 December 2025, when the Director General paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
A statement made available to our Correspondent by Major General Samaila Uba, Director, Defence Information on 18 December 2025 disclosed that the CDS also lauded the contributions of NIPSS to national development through the cultivation of strategic level manpower and research into transformational policies for the nation.
He expressed happiness with the efforts of the Institute directed at research and development that is urgently needed at a critical time like now. He expressed readiness to partner with NIPSS to develop solutions to our current challenges.
The CDS who is an alumnus of the National Institute and a member of the Institute's Board of Governors, reiterated the unflinching support of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to the Institute in all spheres to enable it achieve its mandate.
Earlier in his remarks, the Director General, Professor Omotayo appreciated the CDS and the Armed Forces of Nigeria for their sacrifices in keeping Nigeria safe and united. He notified the CDS of the ongoing effort to develop a solution in partnership with the Nigerian Army and therefore urged for more support from the Armed Forces to see the project to fruition.
The DG also informed the CDS of the plans to reposition the Institute as an African Think-Thank Centre for the incubation and development of transformational ideas. He therefore sought the support of the AFN to fully realise the vision. The DG further called for continuous support to make the teaching and learning environment more conducive at the Institute.
