Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and Chairman HRFN Alh Tajudeen Aminu DantataThe Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to exploring new frontiers of economic potential that also strengthen national security. He made this known while hosting the Chairman of the Horse Racing Federation of Nigeria, Alh. Tajudeen Aminu Dantata, and his delegation during a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja.
According toMrs. Mary Ali, Head, Press & Public Relations on 27th November, 2025, the Minister commended the Federation’s renewed drive to unlock the economic possibilities within the horse racing industry, noting that such innovative ventures align with the nation’s broader agenda for growth and stability.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized that modernizing the sector and stimulating new economic activities— including opportunities in tokenization and asset monetization—can contribute significantly to job creation and social stability. He noted that initiatives capable of engaging young people productively are essential in countering negative ideologies, stressing that “only an ideology can counter an ideology,” and that economic empowerment remains one of the strongest tools for national security.
The Minister assured the Federation of the Ministry’s readiness to provide the enabling security framework necessary for emerging industries to thrive. He highlighted that normalizing and opening the economic ecosystem is a national priority, reaffirming that “it is never too late to start something fresh” when the potential can support Nigeria’s long-term development.
Concluding the meeting, Dr. Tunji-Ojo expressed confidence in the partnership and pledged full collaboration with the Horse Racing Federation of Nigeria. He stated that the Ministry “looks forward to working closely with you” as both institutions pursue shared goals of national prosperity, enhanced security, and sustainable economic expansion.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Horse Racing Federation of Nigeria, Alhaji Tajudeen Aminu Dantata, praised the Ministry of Interior for its ongoing reforms and expressed strong optimism about Nigeria’s readiness to compete on the global sporting and economic stage.
Alhaji Dantata lauded the Minister’s transformation efforts, particularly improvements in immigration processes which he described as the fastest he has ever experienced in Nigeria.
He highlighted the immense economic and social value of horse racing worldwide, citing iconic events such as the Epsom Derby and the Dubai World Cup, which generate significant revenue and community engagement across major economies. Drawing parallels with Nigeria’s own rich heritage especially the famous Durbar festivals, he stated that the Federation is committed to positioning Nigeria on the global map by seeking participation in the Dubai World Cup for the first time in history. This effort, he noted, will enhance the country’s international image and align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He reaffirmed the Federation’s readiness to fund its strategic mission and expressed confidence in the Ministry’s support as they worked to elevate Nigeria’s presence in the global horse racing arena. He thanked the Honourable Minister for the warm reception and extended an open invitation for him to attend forthcoming Federation events, emphasizing the collective goal of showcasing Nigeria’s potential to the world.
