The Nigerian military has maintained its operational momentum in the North East region, successfully denying Boko Haram, ISWAP, and JAS terrorists freedom of action. Recent operations have resulted in significant gains, with troops repelling multiple attacks and neutralizing several insurgents
This was contained in a weekly press statement on the ongoing military operations by the Armed Forces of Nigeria for the week ending 28 November by the Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Micheal Onoja.
General Onoja reaffirm the Nigerian military unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and properties, as well as the sovereignty of the nation.
"In light of the evolving security challenges across the country, ranging from terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities, the military has intensified its operations in collaboration with other sister security agencies to restore peace and stability. These operations are guided by professionalism, respect for human rights, and a determination to dismantle all threats undermining national security."
"We recognize the concerns of citizens and communities affected by insecurity, and we assure Nigerians that every measure is being taken to ensure their safety. The Armed Forces remain resolute, focused, and fully dedicated to restoring normalcy, strengthening national unity, and sustaining the security of our country."
"Overall, troops recovered large quantities of various arms, such as automatic weapons, RPG tubes, machine guns, locally fabricated guns, and improvised explosive devices making materials. Also, some cache of live cartridges and assorted ammunition were discovered. As usual, this press release will highlight the operational successes of JTF NE OPHK, JTF NW OPFY and the 2 JTF in the NC; OPEP and OPWS. Thereafter, the successes recorded by JTF SS OPDS and JTF SE OPUK will be discussed," he said.

JOINT TASK FORCE NORTH EAST OPERATION HADIN KAI
3. The Joint Task Force North East OPERATION HADIN KAI (OPHK) during the week ending, troops sustained operational momentum by denying Boko Haram, ISWAP and JAS terrorists’ freedom of action in the North East region. Ground forces in conjunction with the Air Component and Hybrid forces as well as local security groups, conducted aggressive operations across the theatre. During these operations, troops killed several terrorists and arrested their informants and logistics suppliers. They also recovered some weapons and dismantled terrorists’ networks. Their efforts paved way for the safe resettlement of displaced persons. For instance, from 17 - 26 November 2025, troops conducted kinetic operations against terrorists in Damboa, Bama, Monguno, Magumeri, Chibok, Ngala, Gwoza, Askira Uba and Abadam LGAs of Borno State. Similar operations were conducted in Michika and Song LGAs of Adamawa State. During the encounters, scores of the terrorists were killed in action. Also, 11 of their collaborators, informants, sympathizers and spies were arrested, while 8 kidnapped commuters were also rescued along Road Gwaza – Limankara. significant quantities of arms and ammunition and vehicles were also recovered, while their camps were destroyed. Recovered weapons are in troops’ custody for further action.
4. Air Interdiction. On 19 November 2025, following Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR), terrorists activities and their storage facilities were sighted. The Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI conducted air interdiction at a location within Sambisa general area in Borno State. Troops engaged the selected targets with rockets and bomb, in successive passes. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that scores of terrorists were neutralised, while their storage facilities and equipment destroyed.
JOINT TASK FORCE NORTH WEST OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA
5. Troops of OPFY sustained operational tempo throughout the week with significant outcomes. During several fire fights, terrorists were killed in action and kidnapped victims were rescued. For instance, from 17 - 26 November 2025, troops conducted offensive operations in Shinkafi, Gussau, Maru, Zurmi, Talata Mafara and Bukkuyum LGAs of Zamfara State. Similarly operations were conducted in Danko Wasagu, Arewa, Augie and Yauri LGAs of Kebbi State as well as Giwa and Birni Gwari LGAs of Kaduna State. Troops also conducted operations in Binji, Sabon Birni, Gudu, Kebbe and Tangaza LGAs of Sokoto State as well as Faskari, Danmusa, Sabuwa and Batsari LGAs of Katsina State. Operations were also conducted in Mariga and Angwara LGAs of Niger State. During these operations, several terrorists were killed in action, 15 of them were apprehended, while 13 kidnapped victims were rescued. Weapons, vehicles, livestock and other household items were recovered from them.
6. In a related development, on 19 November 2025, troops apprehended a suspected terrorists logistics supplier and arms dealer in Bukkuyum LGA of Zamfara State. The suspect was at the point of negotiation to procure weapons for terrorists, receipt of transactions amounting to N4,000,000.00 was recovered from him. Further investigation revealed that the suspect has some weapons and uniforms belonging to a particular terrorists group in his possession. Efforts is ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the group and recovery of the weapons in their possession.
7. Air Interdiction. Between 17 – 26 November 2025, the Air Component of Operation FASAN YAMMA conducted series of air recce and surveillance missions across Niger, Kwara, Kebbi, Katsina and Sokoto States. Meanwhile, on 20 November 2025, following confirmation on location of terrorists at Pauwa Hill in Kankara LGA of Katsina State, in coordinated missions, acquired the targets and engaged them with bombs in multiple passes. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that scores of them were killed, while their camps and equipment destroyed.
JOINT TASK FORCE NORTH CENTRAL OPERATION ENDURING PEACE
8. During the period, troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE responded to distress calls on terrorists’ activities in some sectors. For instance, from 17 - 26 November 2025, troops conducted offensive operations and responded to distress calls on terrorists’ activities in Barkin Ladi, Riyom, Jos North, Bassa and Shendam LGAs of Plateau State. They also conducted operations in Sanga, Jamaá and Zangon Kataf LGAs of Kaduna State. During the firefights, some extremists were killed in action. Significantly, a notorious extremist identified as Umar Idi (aka LERE) and 9 other criminals were arrested, while 10 kidnapped victims were rescued. Some weapons, ammunition, motorcycles and vehicles were recovered from the extremists. The sum of N2,668,000.00 cash and transaction receipts totalling N5,320,000.00 were also recovered from vandals of rail tracks who tried to bribe the troops for them to be released.
JOINT TASK FORCE NORTH CENTRAL OPERATION WHIRL STROKE
9. Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE recorded some successes in their Area of Operational Responsibility during the week.
Between 17 -26 November 2025, troops conducted several operations in Yagba West, Kabba and Lokoja LGAs of Kogi State as well as Wamba, Nasarawa and Keana LGAs of Nasarawa State. They also conducted operations in Wukari, Takum, Gassol and Ardo Kola LGAs of Taraba State as well as Ukum, Guma and Kwande LGAs of Benue State. During the operations, troops neutralised several criminals, arrested 11 suspected others, while 9 kidnapped victims were rescued. Arms and ammunition, vehicles and livestock were also recovered from them.
JOINT TASK FORCE SOUTH-SOUTH OPERATION DELTA SAFE
10. In Operation DELTA SAFE theatre, troops foiled oil theft worth over One Hundred and Seventy Three Million Seven Hundred and Fifty Seven Thousand Four Hundred and Forty Naira (N173,757,440.00) only. The breakdown indicates; 105,650 litres of stolen crude oil
and 63,820 litres of AGO. Additionally, they discovered and destroyed 11 illegal refining sites and arrested 13 oil thieves and other criminals, while assorted arms and ammunition were also recovered.
11. Relatedly, between 17 – 22 November 2025, troops conducted offensive operations in Andoni and Ahoada East LGAs of Rivers State as well as Akoko North-West of Ondo State respectively. During the operations, a notorious cultist Dan Okposuogu (Aka World Wide) who has been on troops watchlist was arrested alongside 6 other criminals, while 3 kidnapped victims were also rescued.
JOINT TASK FORCE SOUTH EAST OPERATION UDO KA
12. Troops of Operation UDO KA sustained offensive posture throughout the week under review. Between 17 - 24 November 2025, troops conducted offensive operations in Mbaitoli, Oru and Njaba LGAs of Imo State as well as Ogwunagbo and Ohafia LGAs of Abia State. They also conducted operations in Ohaukwo and Ihiala LGAs of Ebonyi and Anambra States respectively. During the operations, troops arrested 7 criminals and rescued 5 kidnapped victims. They recovered arms, ammunition, vehicles and improvised explosive devices making materials from them.
13. Air Interdiction. On 18 November 2025, in support of the ongoing joint clearance operations, the Air Component of Operation UDO KA conducted air interdiction at terrorists’ safe haven in Ezeagu LGA of Enugu State. The target was acquired and engaged with rockets and cannons in successive passes. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that terrorists were killed in action, while their camps and logistics were destroyed.
14. Defence Headquarters wishes to commend the troops for their bravery and urges them to maintain the momentum.
