The Mining Cadastre Office (MCO) welcomed a high-powered delegation from the World Bank, led by Naora Arfua on a working visit today, Friday 15 August, 2025 at MCO headquarters ,Abuja.
According to Patrick Chika Osuji Head of Press, Mining Cadastre Office, the purpose of the visit was to engage in discussions on potential collaborations and support for the Nigerian mining sector.
During the meeting, Engr. Obadiah Simon Nkom, Director General of the MCO, and the World Bank delegation explored ways to strengthen the mining sector's contribution to Nigeria's economic growth and development. The discussions focused on areas of mutual interest, including, Leveraging technology to enhance the efficiency and transparency of mining operations
sector and ensure its optimal contribution ,Promoting sustainable pratices in the mining sector to ensure environmental protection and social responsibility.
The World Bank delegation expressed their admiration for the MCO's efforts in transforming the mining sector through digitalization and transparency initiatives. They also highlighted the Bank's commitment to supporting Nigeria's development goals, particularly in the extractives sector.
The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding to explore potential partnership opportunities that would benefit the Nigerian mining sector and contribute to the country's economic growth.
Also present at the meeting were management staff of Mining Cadastre Office.
