MNJTF Collaborates 4th Joint Military Region of Cameroon Armed Forces On Improved Lake Chad Border Security

In a strategic move at enhancing security and stability in the Lake Chad region, the Force Commander(FC) Multinational Joint Task Force MNJTF Major General Godwin Mutkut and the 4th Joint Military Region of Cameroon Armed Forces Major General Saleh Mahamadou have pledged to conduct a robust collaboration to decisively counter  insecurity in the Lake Chad Basin. 

A statement by the Chief Military Public information Officer Army MNJTF, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba said the pledge  was made during a strategic operational visit by the FC to headquarters of operation emergence 4

During the visit Major General Mutkut reiterated  that MNJTF and Operation Emergence 4 have common enemy in Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists who have plagued the region for over 15 years draining resources and causing widespread loss of lives and properties. Accordingly he came to see the Commander Emergence 4   eye ball to eye ball to share insights, address challenges and to forge a joint coordinated strategy to overcome the region's security threats 

Major General Mutkut highlighted that the renewed synergy will extend beyond MNJTF and Operation Emergence 4 ,encompassing all stakeholders dedicated to securing the Lake Chad Basin. He called for continued support from Troop Contributing Counties to strengthen the mission

In response, Major General Saleh Mahamadou commended MNJTF's efforts in improving security and fostering  economic activities in the Lake Chad Basin. He affirmed that his troops are more than ready to provide any  support and collaboration that can leverage the strength of both forces.. 

The FC also paid courtesy visit to Governor of the far North Region of Cameroon His Excellency Midjiyawa Bakare where he assured the Governor that there will be a change in the ongoing counter terrorism operation in the Lake Chad Region.

The strengthened partnering marks a pivotal moment in the fight against terrorism in the Lake Chad Basin signalling a unified resolve to restore stability and security for the region's community.
