Sport unites nations and creates peace between countries through the extension of invites to other countries,,hence creating friendships between nations. 

It is in this vain that the Armed forces world over participate in sporting activities In a bid to foster confidence cohetion among soldiers, it is also an avenue to keep fit for  the armed forces which Nigeria is not left out.

The 36th edition  of the  the World Military Wrestling Championship is organized by the State Border Service and the Ministry of Defense and Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan.

The event received distinguished guests from the International Military Sports Council not excluding the gallant soldier of Nigeria who came home in cheers with gold and silver medals

Speaking upon arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, the athletes eulogize the chief of Defence staff, General Christopher Musa for his support which is a motivation to them.

The team lead to the games in Azerbaijan Director of sports, Air vice Marshal Abidemi Timothy Manquis said the prospect is there and this is just the beginning of successes.

The coach of the team on his part, Warrant Officer Godwill Tiebiri while also expressing happiness over the victory attributed the win as "historic" 

Warrant Officer Tiebiri said the team’s historic achievement is breaking a 50-year record by securing a Gold medal at the championship. 

The Gold medalist, Corporal Ruben Hannah and the silver medalist, Lance Corporal Ojolaide Esther  while acknowledging the support of the Chief Of Defence Staff as a motivating factor said hardwork and mindset of winning helped them achieve their medals.

 They were however optimistic of greater achievements in future competitions assuring more medals would be brought to Nigeria.
